Psychotherapy, Grief Support & Equine Facilitated Coaching

Welcome to Beech Tree Healing!

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy sessions are tailored to your unique needs and goals. I provide a gentle and compassionate approach to help teens and adults overcome challenges and improve mental and emotional well-being.

Trauma Therapy

Trauma therapy sessions are based on co-creating a safe and supportive environment to help you process and heal from traumatic experiences. I practice EMDR therapy, an evidence-based trauma protocol, to help you overcome trauma and find relief from suffering.

Grief Informed Therapy

Find support and guidance in processing grief and loss, and learn how to cope with difficult emotions. Whether you have experienced the death of a loved one, a chronic illness, a major life transition or traumatic event, grief counseling can help you explore your feelings, thoughts and behaviors and discover your inner resilience.

Equine Facilitated Services

Equine facilitated coaching sessions are for individuals seeking transformation and healing around specific life issues or personal goals. Whether you are wanting personal or spiritual growth, together with a herd of horses we can explore body/mind patterns, stuck behaviors, limited ways of thinking, relational issues or envisioning the future. Horses bring us into the present moment and help reveal our true Self. With facilitation we are able to identify where we are not in alignment with authenticity and move beyond outdated patterns and conditioned ways of being. This becomes the ground for insight, genuine connection, and heart opening experiences. Please contact me if you have any curiosities or questions!

Welcome!

The Journey

Now that you are here, I invite you to imagine that you are embarking on a journey. It has required your effort, your suffering and pain, as well as your strength and courage. You have made it this far!

You may feel alone and confused about where you are, where you are going, or how you should proceed. You may be feeling lost, disconnected, shattered or out of control. You may be feeling fear, doubt, self criticism, anger, or lacking the energy to go on.

Yet, something calls from another shore. Maybe a faint glimmer or yearning beckons you. Maybe there is a way through the storm, the maze, the peaks and valleys to this other shore. Imagine there is a way, if only you had a map, a compass, a lantern or a torch.

This shore, some unknown destination, seems unimaginable from where you sit now. Yet, part of you knows the truth. The truth that on this unfamiliar shore, on this strangely nonexistent shore, a new self will emerge, arising into existence and greeting you in warm embrace.

On this other shore there is freedom, relief, understanding, healing from all you are struggling with at this moment in time.

Now Imagine a warm, trusting hand in yours and feel into the strength, compassion, and willingness to join with you on this journey. Another, not so different from you. One who has found their way, their safe passage, by reaching out of the darkness and into the hand of some other warm and trusting hand. And so the path toward healing continues....

What I Offer

I believe that everyone has the potential for growth and change, and that therapy can help unlock that potential. I provide a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore themselves, their relationships and their lives in a fresh and meaningful way.

Somatic:

  • My approach is somatic which means a lot of our time will be spent learning the language and story of the body, rather than just talking from an intellectual place. Somatic Psychotherapy helps clients get to the root of their problem and grow their capacity for embodiment. They experience the ability to live more freely with presence, responsiveness, and fulfillment.
  • As we know, emotions, memories, traumas and early childhood patterns are stored within the body. Through the wisdom of the body, I support clients to increase somatic and emotional awareness and resolve old wounds and confusion.

Mindfulness-based:

  • Mindfulness is a key ingredient for healing and making change. It will help you learn to track your experiences from moment to moment. Research shows it is helpful in reducing symptoms of anxiety, depression, and pain.
  • I introduce mindfulness exercises at the beginning of sessions. You will gain confidence using mindfulness principles outside of session and many experience improvements in self regulation, emotional awareness, and connection, as well as inner flexibility and greater choice in their lives.
  • Mindfulness teaches us to live in the here and now rather than in the past or future. This will help empower you to gain presence in your life and build confidence and contentment.

Trauma Support:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is an evidence based trauma therapy treatment that helps clients of all ages overcome traumatic events. emotional issues, disturbing memories or bodily sensations that feel unresolved or stuck.
  • Developing internal and external resources, body awareness, and safety and security are key to being able to process the energy of trauma. I focus on supporting clients in feeling confident and resilient in their resources so that the natural healing process can occur through reprocessing.
  • Many clients report feeling that the issue that used to bother them, or disrupted the functioning of their lives, is changed through EMDR. It is often a surprising feeling!
  • Gestalt parts work is an effective and transformative method for challenging or traumatic issues, as it invites resolution through organic understanding of oneself and the different parts at play. It often provides insight and relief on an energetic level as we explore a dialogue between thoughts, feelings, and impasses in a dynamic way.
  • Psychoeducation about Nervous System regulation, window of tolerance, neurobiology and attachment patterns help clients understand and engage in trauma healing. I seek permission and acknowledge choice in our work together. I believe this is an empowering and healing aspect of therapy, as losing choice and autonomy are often part of traumatic experiences.

Grief Support:

  • I honor the grief process as a sacred quest and am able to share a gentle, safe space for vulnerability.
  • I offer support for chronic illness and end of life issues and help clients identify and develop spiritual resources if desired.
  • I have specialized EMDR grief therapy training and knowledge and education related to grief processing.
  • I offer therapy based on a 10 week evidence based grief curriculum as a Judi's House Pathfinders Provider. This model helps clients move through their grief process in a systematic and collaborative way using psychoeducation, coping skills, expressive arts, and ritual. Clients move through milestones of healing beginning with the reality of death and grieving, processing the complexity of grief reactions, coping with reminders and reactions, creating and integrating a coherent death narrative, adjusting to changes, completing unfinished business, memorializing and redefining connection, reengaging with life, dealing with grief waves, and preparing for the future.

Relationship Support:

  • My style is relational, meaning I pay close attention and attune to my client's level of comfort or discomfort within the therapeutic relationship. I am open to feedback and listen to client requests. I make attempts to repair any ruptures or mis-attunements within the therapeutic relationship.
  • I value the unique gifts and beauty of each of my clients and I feel deeply committed to their healing. I only see a limited number of clients for this reason.
  • Attunement is the quality that helps us feel seen, felt and heard. It lets us know energetically that we are important and valued, This is often missing in our relationships from early childhood and into present day relationships. Many intimate partner relationships suffer due to lack of attunement and they tend to mirror those unsatisfactory patterns from early childhood. These are patterns we can explore and respond to with compassion and skill within therapy.
  • PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy) is an effective and powerful method for couples to improve their understanding of each other based on attachment style, attunement, tracking, and co-regulation.
  • Clients gain valuable information about their partner, which helps cultivate emotional depth and the ability to repair wounds.
  • Clients also gain the ability to understand their own needs, as well as the needs of their partner, in a way that facilitates better communication, ability to deal with conflict, and ideally secure functioning.
  • PACT informs the work I do with individuals, as well as couples.
